This 1978 release saw lyricist Neil Peart say a final farewell to the mythological and science fiction- oriented themes that dominated previous efforts. The first six tracks on this remastered disc comprise the 36-minute Cygnus X=1, Part II epic (otherwise known as Side One for LP-listening types). The three remaining tracks are a preview of Rush to come with an example of a short prog-rock piece (The Trees), fusion instrumentalism (La Villa Strangiato) and the compression-style song structures (Circumstances). Featuring lightening-fast time changes and complex rhythms, this album showcases the members of Rush as musician's musicians.Jodi Lutz
